Sometimes I send cold emails. And from time to time a few scary contacts ask me surprised things like:
"Who gave you my email?"
"How did you get my email?"

And no, there are no more KGB spies (I think) and nothing dangerous is going to happen to you because currently your email, mine and those of 90% of the population are public. For better or worse, this is what it is.
